The Sound Guy

"Heyyyyyyy,
Another review from yours truly. I ran sound last night at Rascal's for 13th Parallel and Mystic 7. I've mixed for Mystic 7 before, and have always enjoyed seeing their show, but I'd never seen 13th Parallel before. Both bands put on a KICKASS show! Good old thundering rock & roll. The kind of music that grabs ya by the throat, shakes ya around, and lets ya know you're still ALIVE. 13th Parallel opened up the night and wowed the crowd with their own unique form (which from my perch behind the sound board I was groovin' to). Brian from Mystic 7 even acted like once he kinda wanted to mosh a bit. Sorry, Brian, I ain't about to go there with you my friend. If you've ever seen Brian from Mystic 7, you know what I mean. If not, I guess you'll just have to go see them perform and see for yourself Twisted Evil Folks were coming over to me and asking "Where'd these guys come from?" I told 'em "The 13th Parallel, of course." Great, great job, guys. Thanks for entertaining us.

Mystic 7 was up next. After a major brain fart on my part (just couldn't get those vocals right, sorry guys), Mystic 7 took the stage and rocked the house once again. Thanks to Scott from 13th Parallel's help, we finally got the mix right (WHEW!, I was about to pull my hair out), and Mystic 7 put on what I think was the best show by them I've ever seen. I really like these guys, both musically and personally, but dudes, this was the show to end all shows! The crowd was diggin' it, and Brian, Virus, and James were up there havin' a ball. When they played "Wild Wild Women" the crowd went NUTZ (the Rascal's crowd loves that song).

All in all, it was a good ol' fashioned rock & roll party where everyone had a great time, and we got treated to 2 GREAT performances by 2 GREAT bands!

HATS OFF to Mystic 7 and 13th Parallel for two wonderful performances. You get The Sound Guy's Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy rating. "

Peace & Rock & Roll

Laughing    " This was a great show for both bands!!! 13th parallel was HOT!!!! Scott, John, Mike and my personal favorite Rich Wink performed one of their best shows I have ever seen!!! The guys from Mystic 7 were tearin' it up too! James Wink - thanks for inviting all of us Wild Wild Women up on stage to dance and sing with you!!!

Everyone should run to their local bars when they see that either one of these bands are playing, and if you are lucky enough that they are playing together, be prepared for one hell of a night!!!!"

I have to admit that I was very impressed with these guys as well. I asked if they were nervous, and the response was they were there for the fun and to show that Colorado Springs has a great live music scene. They were up first, and rocked the house. The judges jobs are getting tougher and you can see the sweat on their brows trying to pick the winner. I have to thank 13th Parallel for their continued support of SpringsAction, and make sure you all check out where these guys are jamming. It's worth the cover charge wherever.
